Meet one of our 2023 AHEC Scholars! This month we are excited to feature Grace Mawawa, a pre-med/biology student at Black Hills State University!
Grace Mawawa - BHSU pre-med/biology student
Hello!! My name is Grace and I'm a Senior at Black Hills State University. I am Biology major and a Chemistry minor. I discovered AHEC Scholars program through an ad online and I started doing the program in the summer of 2023. One thing I enjoyed about this program is the fact that I got an opportunity to visit various clinics in rural South Dakota and to learn how they serve the communities around them. In addition to that, I learnt the application of atomic physics in medicine. Moreover, I was able build new connections. I hope to go to medical school and become a pediatrician in the future.
