They work to link health professionals with academic institutions and community organizations, facilitating collaboration in training, research, and service delivery. 

Leadership & Professional Development Programs
Through programs like SD AHEC Scholars, professionals and students get opportunities to build leadership skills, cross-professional experience, and exposure to rural and underserved settings. While this is focused more on students, many of the elements (training, networking, mentorship) benefit current professionals as well through shared learning and collaboration.
