BLS for Healthcare Providers - WDT Corporate Education offers the full class and recertification option. The schedule and details can be found here.

American Sign Language for First Responders - This WDT Corporate Education course focuses on first responders, nurses, receptionists, and other professions that encounter Deaf or hard of hearing individuals before an interpreter is available.  Areas of focus will be how to identify communication breakdown, how to calm Deaf and hard of hearing individual, first levels of communication, request interpreter.  Individuals will have an opportunity to work through mock first responder case scenarios experienced by Deaf individual’s past experiences. South Dakota EMS Continuing Education - Sanford Health delivers LIVE monthly education to EMS agencies through video broadcast.  All classes are approved for CAPCE continuing education credit. Learn more here.

Dental Courses - WDT’s Corporate Education Center offers continuing education classes for dental professionals including dental radiology and nitrous oxide/oxygen sedation classes. These courses have been approved by the South Dakota State Board of Dentistry.  The schedule and details can be found here.

Mission: Possible - Reducing the Impact of Substance Abuse and Mental Illness in Our Communities

This year's Misson:Possible workshop was held May 31-June 1, 2023. Attendees joined virtually or in-person at the Hilton Garden Inn - DT Sioux Falls. This annual event is designed for medical and behavioral health professionals, community leaders, students, educators, school administrators, and more.  Watch for more information about next year's Mission:Possible workshop to be held May 29-30, 2024, which willl feature sessions focused on:

  • What's Trending in Mental Health and Substance Abuse
  • Impact of Substance Abuse and Mental Illness on Youth
  • Opioid Misuse Prevention and Treatments 
  • Suicide Awareness and Prevention
  • And much more!

Rural Health Equity Summit

To address ongoing health care issues and inequities facing rural South Dakotans, the fourth annual statewide Rural Health Equity Summit (RHES) has been scheduled for September 27-28, 2023 at the WDT Event Center in Rapid City (800 Mickelson Dr.).  The RHES is designed for medical professionals, hospital administrators, state goverment employees, and legislators who are connected in some way to rural health.  Day 1 of the RHES will address healthcare workforce development in SD.  Day 2 will focus on critical rural health issues, including maternal health, behavioral health, human trafficking, and more.  The RHES is free to attend, but pre-registration is requested!
